In mid 2002, RIT industrial design students Sam Aquillano, Laura Fowler, and Donald Lehman decided to take a more active role in their education. They started to organize design events at their school; each one becoming larger and more successful than the last. Disappointed by sub-par design conferences in the past, the trio decided they now had the experience to organize a more meaningful and inspirational conference on their own. Thought at Work was born.

The co-chairs of 2004, Kari Iverson, Sara, Lin, and Patrick Rice, have one clearly defined goal: to keep the focus on the students. Every decision they make is tempered by this goal. That is why we invite you to contact us. Suggest a speaker. Deliver the diss. An actual human being will read each and every e-mail we receive, and respond with, at the very least, a recipe for homemade guacamole. Ah, progress.
